A local road will be closed to through traffic for a projected 12 hours this Thursday (Feb. 24th).
According to Lincoln County Emergency Management Co-ordinator Mark Howell, Hudson Poultry Road will be closed for railroad repairs by the CSX, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. The road is located off NC-27, between Iron Station and Alexis.
Howell said Friday that CSX personnel would be conducting repairs and replacing needed railroad timbers. There will be no access to the road during that time, which will necessitate detours and increased travelling time, he added.
Drivers, Howell continued, are “advised to avoid these areas during the closure period, as there will be significant impacts to all roadway-users. Roadway-users are advised to use alternative routes until the project work is completed. Detour signs and electronic message boards will be in place to alert motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists about the temporary road closure.
“Lincoln County understands the challenges and inconveniences that commuters, residents, businesses, bicyclists and pedestrians will experience during the closure periods,” he added, “and we ask for patience and co-operation as the work is done to complete this project. In case of an emergency, first responders will gain access to residents in as timely a manner as possible.”
