A couple of very well known performers are scheduled for performances in our area during the month of April. On April 13th, Cindy Williams will be doing her one-woman show Me, Myself & Shirley at the Newton Performing Arts Center. On April 22nd, gospel music star Sandi Patty will sing at the James Warren Citizens Center in Lincolnton.
Cindy Williams, known for her iconic role as Shirley Feeney in the hit television series, Laverne & Shirley, is a versatile actress and comedienne who overcame a challenging childhood to pursue her love of acting and found stardom. Cindy shares her memories and hilarious backstage tales in Me, Myself & Shirley, a one-woman touring peformance in which she tells about herlifetime in entertainment.
Her career includes working with Oscar-winning directors Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, George Cukor, Roger Corman, and Jack Nicholson, in several films including two nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: American Graffitiand The Conversation.
In a 90-minute performance, Me, Myself & Shirley includes the stories, the secrets, the embarrassing moments, and the highs and lows of Cindy’s life in Hollywood. It is followed by a Question & Answer session between Cindy and members of the audience.
Her nationwide tour includes three performances in North Carolina--April 10th in High Point, April 16th in Raleigh, and Wednesday April 13th in Newton. The Newton show will be at the Newton Performing Arts Center at 60 W 6th Street and it's scheduled for 7:30 Wednesday evening, March 13th, at 7:30. To get tickets for the show, CLICK HERE.
Sandi Patty is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music with 40 Dove Awards. She was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2004. She has released 30 albums, has three platinum records, five gold records, and eleven million units sold. She has won five Grammy awards and four Billboard Music Awards.
