On Tuesday (April 12th) over 100 fourth through sixth graders and their coaches from Catawba County’s 16 elementary schools convened at the Hickory Metro Center for the first 'Catawba Counts' District Wide Math Competition.
The day began with team competitions and ended with the top 8 individual scorers competing in the “face-off” buzzer round in the finals. Sherrills Ford Elementary School’s team took first place in the team competition.
The top eight finalists were:
Walker C. –Clyde Campbell
Logan L. –Clyde Campbell
Eve P .--Tuttle
Saydee P.–Maiden
Aiden Z.–Oxford
Scotty N.–Sherrills Ford
Henry M.–Sherrills Ford
Toby E. of Sherrills Ford took home the top prize in the individual competition with Aiden Z. of Oxford Elementary finishing as runner-up.
